TheEDIB Foundations training is presented by Reach’s Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging council. The training, EDIB Foundations: Building a Culture of Belonging at Reach, begins with the tenet that at Reach Cyber Charter School, we believe every student, family, and employee deserves to be recognized, valued, and supported. The EDIB Foundations session introduces our newest faculty and staff to the principles that guide how we work together and serve our community. Through meaningful conversations on positionality, intersectionality, and the four pillars of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, participants will explore how identity and perspective shape experiences in a virtual learning environment, diving deeper into the population we serve at Reach. The training is designed to set expectations for how we operate at Reach, as well as create space for reflection, growth, and expanded understanding; reinforcing our shared commitment to ensuring that Everyone Belongs at Reach.
Work with your team to craft a phishing email designed to fool the room, then see how it holds up when your peers vote. Best phish wins. Prizes and bragging rights included.
Come prepared to lie, manipulate, and deceive—and learn how cybercriminals use those same tactics against you.
No cybersecurity experience required. Questionable morals encouraged.
This session will be presented by the Outreach Department for Reach Cyber Charter School staff as a foundational overview of the cyber charter school model and how Reach communicates about its work. Cyber charter schools are frequently misunderstood, and staff across all departments often receive questions from families, friends, and community members. This session will provide a shared understanding of how cyber charter schools operate, covering governance, accountability, and the Reach Cyber model - while addressing common myths and misconceptions. The Outreach team will also explain how Reach communicates clearly and consistently through three key areas: external outreach, school community engagement, and social media and communications. The goal is to ensure staff understand how these efforts work together and how consistent messaging across departments helps build trust and clarity with families and the public.
The session will extend Natalie Wexler's key insights from her book Beyond the Science of Reading for our teachers. The session will focus on knowledge - building, explicit instruction, and meaningful engagement to support student outcomes in our virtual learning environment. Participants will leave with ready to use classroom applications that strengthen daily instruction, while aligning literacy development with meaningful content learning. This session can be for K-12 instructors or support staff.
